Not only Arroyo, but her allies too

07/03/2010 - EXPRESSING support on the graft charges against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales said other officials involved in the irregularities should also be included in the charge sheet.

“Tama lang na yung para magkakaroon ng aral ang bayan. Pero lahat, hindi sa isa lang. We are in favor of that pero lahat dapat,” Rosales told reporters in a news briefing Friday.

He noted that while Arroyo could be liable for some wrongdoings, she is not the only one who should be charged.

Bayan Muna filed criminal complaints before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Arroyo in connection with the botched $329-million NBN-ZTE deal

Constitutionalist Fr. Joaquin Bernas urged the newly-established Truth Commission to work with the Department of Justice in gathering evidences against Arroyo.

He said it would be better if the two panels would join forces since it would make their work more efficient.

“The commission can help the DOJ in gathering evidences and trying to determine whether there is guilt or none,” said Bernas.

In his inaugural speech, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III announced the formation of a truth commission to be headed by former Chief Justice Hilario Davide to probe the wrongdoings of Arroyo and his allies. (Sunstar)
